Someone I know got scammed…

Hello I need someone to tell me that my intuition is right.

I‘ll try to break down the story:

My close friend has a friend in thailand and he allegedly has 20 full bitcoins. In order to withdraw them (w/o paying a lot of tax) he wants to send it to a 3rd world country. This friend now needs money to send it to different banks etc.

Now the fishy part is that he wants very high amounts of money from my close friend… after my friend sent about 10000€, his friend in thailand wanted another 20k to complete the transaction. He also sent that.

He said that it‘s no scam, he knows the guy, stayed at his place in that country for 3 weeks… he sent him photos of official bank documents… but those are really blurry photos, I highly doubt that they are real… photos of official identity cards but I don‘t believe any of it…

Now I know it‘s the typical scam, but he says that he knows this guy very well, knows his family and so on… am I right that he got scammed? Or is there a possibility that his friend is actually telling the truth? There‘s no way, right?

I‘m typing from my phone and I‘m sorry for any typos.

EDIT: ty for all your responses. I am now 100% sure that he got scammed and I will try my best to prevent him dump more money.
